  1. ok now i have to repeat what i said earlier lol. now we can see why the hua daughters married bad men, bc just look at this sun bastard cosplaying as a decent guy. and that qin girl just gave up on herself like that? heh she always had low self esteem anyway.
I liked the empress dowager I wished they showed her more, her voice is so soothing πŸ₯°.
I really appreciate that they didn’t force romance/romantic feelings on shaoyao

  2. so, the head of the Security Bureau, a former military commander, a cool, calculated political operator, Yanxi now acted like a 14-yr-old puppy-love-struck jilted schoolboy – just for the typical juvenile, sophomoric, cringey, cheesy humor that is as unmissable in C-dramas as extra-marital affairs being unmissable in J-doramas?

As I skim-watched from ep. 24-31, so many characters with human psychological profile flaws start appearing. For side-show characters for slapstick, the grotesque flaws, or caricatures are OK. But one of the key characters is the emperor. The emperor was so nurturing, caring to Yanxi, who was able to instill love and respect from Yanxi, yet so hated by all his sons: a major flaw in human psychological profiles typical with low-quality C-dramas written by inexperienced young writers whose life experiences are limited, which are fine. No one will say that they are Dostoevsky or Kafka. But any psychologist knows that a person with proper parental instinct toward his nephew could not be simultaneously so cruel and psychopathic to his own children.

Both main leads, who have been behaving with their age-proper maturity, start to show cracks.

  3. Rooting for Shen Huan and Shaoyao as endgame, she likes him but has not processed it yet hence her inability to grasp his confession. It looks like she is slowly coming to the realization.

I was worried about this girl thinking she might have a hard time during her marriage to the merchant but it seems they need to fear her instead.

Grandmother is on their side, if the emperor starts to object they will have someone who will stand beside them. I also applaud her for not mincing the truth about the hardships she might face when they get married.

I wish they would have shown us Fudong’s wedding as well, I know we saw the betrothal gift but we did not see them at the wedding attire.

  4. We haven’t seen the emperor these last two episodes.. shit about to hit the fan soon I guess 🀧
I hope that scar on Yanxi’s face never heals, and I hope that the emperor keeps being an emperor for a long long time… Hua Zhi and Yanxi aren’t meant to live inside a cage, they deserve freedom πŸ’œ

  5. Chen Qi will have to wise up & marry Miss Jiang so his young brother won’t be miserable. He should know he can’t have Hua Zhi now

  6. poor kid loves her but cant explain what is love! and she being diff there is none to teach her…hope that granny was alive for explaining things…even the FL is preoccupied in her world doesnt care to check on the kid! she was feeling sad her playmate is getting married..now the worst things are going to fall on Shen family…and these boys are going to north again…only she will be ready to follow him!!!

  7. I got this vibe from Grandma when she spoke about her and Dowager Empress….I thought their “friendship” was a bit special.
Empress telling Hua Zhi not to have regrets about being with the one you loved…these were modern ladies living in the wrong era πŸ’•
I knew Zhi’s cousin just wanted out of that family, to escape her “lowly birth” and the stigma that was attached to her. Didn’t take her long to establish the pecking order, including the tea merchant. He wanted a servant wife… He got a boss ladyβ—πŸ˜…πŸ˜†πŸ˜‚
