THIS EPISODE WAS SO GOOD. It’s been a while since I watched a kdrama with this specific atmosphere. It has that corporate romance slice-of-life vibe that I love from c-dramas (the details of them getting home, the emphasis of them texting each other late into the night), but keeps the essence of k-melodramas at its core. The chemistry between the FL and ML is sooo natural and entertaining to watch and honestly, a breath of fresh air. The scene of them hiding and sneaking in the classroom was freakin’ fun. The slow burn is BURNING and I’m living for it!!
sidenote: any scene with the school teacher gives me the heebie jeebies and i have to 2x speed it.
Omg I hope the new teacher isnt trying to sabotage but I guess that makes for a good drama
The articles I’ve read about the competitiveness of the education system in Korea weren’t lying. This drama does a great job of articulating it. Not only is it brutally competitive, but it is also rigid in that it stifles students’ creativity. It’s borderline, if not all the way, abusive. I used to think the parents who pressured their children to study all hours of the day and forced them to join private academies did that for their gain, but this drama made me realize it’s not necessarily true for all parents. Most parents do it because they know that admission to a top university is an ultimate marker of prestige; it would secure their children the most coveted professions and promote social mobility.
They say competition is the best form of motivation, but only if it’s healthy and focused on improving students and teachers, advancing them to learn new skills. A competition that focuses on winning and pitting competitors against each other is something else entirely. It saddens me to see that the type of university one graduates from has lasting consequences for one’s career and life. It’s disconcerting. Going to school in SK is a full-time job that doesn’t pay; on the contrary, you have to pay to succeed. That said, I love this drama and the chemistry between the leads. If the education is competitive, the teachers must be competitive, so I understand why Nam Cheong Mi felt the need to stand out but to do it at the expense of a fellow lecturer is low. The worst part is that she genuinely believes she can beat Seo Hye Jin. I guess that is left to be seen. A well done drama be it in the writing, directing or acting.
LOVING the way he’s coming closer to her while making it clear that they don’t have the same teacher/student relationship anymore. AAAAAND HELLO?!!! why was she smiling/giggling like that when they were chatting ? Does this mean that she IS mini starting to fall for him (we at this stage know what kind of smooth talker he is).
The drama is clearly not just about their romance and I’m not hating it, and they seem to have a slow but smooth kind of relationship development (because now ep 3 it’s obvious that she at least isn’t considering any kind of relationship with him at the moment. HE THOUGH is a another story, but who still is not clearly presented).
they were only chatting and I could see there chemistry he’s cheeky and clever way to go inch closer to her was heart warming🤗
Gettin’ Cruella DeVille vibes off of the White Haired Witch.😝🤣😭 Why do I think Jun Ho’s joint deal is just another excuse to spend more time with his fave teacher eh?😏😉 He convinced me though.😭🤣
He grabbed Hye Jin’s wrist several times here.😏
– “I can’t keep up with him.“
Ikr Hye Jin ha-ha. I’m breathless just watchin’ you 2 LoL.💜
Hm I knew that Ms. Nam would be a nuisance somehow LoL. She’s just super eager. Well she’s impatient and ambitious. Think that lady’s son might be crushing on Ms. Nam though.
wow wow wow really like the scene when they were discussing alone in the class room while the other teachers were having dinner, and when the female teacher came back and the leads had to sneak out was just like when is Something in the rain.
He is so smooth! Moving closer to her, selling his car for deposit, and begging rides from her. All little things to tie them closer but all logical.
The female new hire seems competitive. I just hope she doesn’t become someone who is a backstabber because she wants to win.
This jockeying for position is very common in academics- as stable as the job may seem, you need to watch office politics. Ideal subjects and class hours translates into money.
Their chemistry is absolutely insane, like damn, I coulnd’t stop smiling
I’m loving seeing Wi Ha Joon in the role of Junho. That puppy-dog smile works so well with Junho’s cheeky, smooth personality. Even though the leads are still at a ‘professional’ level, the chemistry is visibly there.
don’t make me wait so much…. pls
