  1. I didn’t fully understand the ending of the drama. While I enjoyed it overall, there were too many unnecessary plot points. I kept waiting for the love story between the leads to begin, but it never truly materialized. They both cared deeply for each other, to the point where anyone could see they were in love. Despite this, neither of them ever confessed their feelings. Even at the end, he said many emotional and touching things to her, but he never once told her that he loved her. Both of them were clearly aware of their mutual feelings, yet they never expressed them openly. This left me wondering why there was no romantic or tender scene between them. Instead, much of the drama focused on him trying to find a cure for her illness. In the end, I’m not sure if I would consider it a good drama or not.

  2. Wth…. they could have floated away together somewhere… like what is this ending.. I will believe in my version that they are living happily in some hidden island..

  3. Knew the ending before I started the binge from ep18, and honestly just stuck around for the cute moments between Mi Lan and Mr. Shen.

The plot really became a disaster towards the end, and the villains just got more ridiculous. The buildup in general was pretty bad in the second half and things just became repetitive. I don’t know what was the intended buildup and ending before many scenes had to be cut. Maybe the initial script wasn’t so bad, which is really a pity. I guess being able to be aired in the end is still better than being shelved forever.

The ending seriously felt so shoehorned even though they’ve been hinting at it many episodes ago. Maybe it’s related to the censorship or writers are just obsessed with sad endings these days. But at least make it make sense? Coz if Mr. Shen couldn’t live anymore without the stone, then what about Mi Lan?? Shouldn’t she be facing the same problem? It’s been clarified that Situ was born a vampire so it makes sense that he doesn’t face that problem. But anyway, logic was already flung out the window few episodes into the drama so what was I expecting. Lol

Despite the ending, I still love the moments between Mi Lan and Mr. Shen. He taught her the things her mother failed to, showed her the love that she never received growing up, and always reminded her to seek knowledge. Though they kept it ambiguous but also not that ambiguous in the drama, at least their hug in the snow in the previous episode showed more than enough.

Also the little easter egg in the beginning!! Mi Lan hinted that it was the second day of lunar new year, so she wanted to bring some dumplings back home for her mom. It’s a Chinese tradition for married daughters, who have left home, to return and visit her parents on the second day of lunar new year, because she’s supposed to spend the first day with the husband’s family. So when Mi Lan said that it’s the second day, Mr. Shen said Mi Lan was right, and she should go back and visit her mother on this day. To me, that’s indirectly hinting at them being official!! As if Mi Lan was already married to him. Ashkflsdfhlj

To me, this ending never existed and I will stick to the ending of ep23 because that was beautiful and it’d be the perfect ending. The villains just poofed and perished with Mr. Mo gaining power from the stone and defeating that annoying Miss Mu. The Mu family continues living with that curse because serves them right!!! The Mo family comes back stronger with Mr. Mo’s power and becomes Mr. Shen’s ally. Situ and Miss Jin can get their own happily-ever-after. Mi Lan pursues her music career and travels the world with Mr. Shen, enjoying a happy and peaceful life together. THE END.

  4. Okay~ that was ridiculous. I watched it raw, so I didn’t understand much of it, but I do know a bad ending when I see it. This show’s first 2 ep had such good build up to an interesting premise & conflict, but in the end it really came down to the antagonists scheming to make the plot move. As such the Leads are really bad characters as they’re the passive-reaction type. The story, the supporting characters, the character arcs & so much more. I’m coming out of this one w/ disappointment.

  5. bom, mas poderia ter sido melhor, pouco episodios para muitas historias juntas, e no final fico meio que corrido e como sempre cdrama com esses finais bem felizes, um respirando e outro sem respirar kkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

  6. At best, the actors did a marvelous job. Mi Lan there with her cry is so effective to tie it up. Not happy but it was riveting.

  7. These episodes went like rockets.

I love everything about it…everything. Even the ending.

It left me with a profond love story without awckward kisses and ridiculous “I love you” carefuly pronouced without emotions. The “I love you” was through the Chinese culture way, such as a profond breating, a sincere embrace, the discovering of love through a tear, experiencing the first snow, sharing the making of dumplings, offering a plant, sitting face to face without wordings, a subtle smile, smiling eyes, pure joy, couple outfits, etc.

First time I watch and finish a vampire/half vampire story being too sensitive for this type of writing.

It is the tale of vampires and half vampires living among human monsters.
It was a packed with emotions and battles.

Not a script drawned with unecessary characters. It was not complex and easy to follow without refering to Mydram…st cast list.

I have never rated a Cdrama and will not do this here for the sake of the former Cdramas I had watched. I only have to say…try it with open heart. It is worth your time.

  8. All I gotta say, China is addicted to Sad Endings cause I don’t understand why they turn an adaptation with a Happy Ending to a Sad one. Like what is wrong with these screen writers πŸ€―πŸ˜‘πŸ€¬πŸ˜ˆπŸ™‰
Anywho, to anyone interested in the Novel Ending: It’s a Happy One.
So after they defeat the villain, Li gets killed but Situ feels pity for him and turn him. Shen and Mi Lan manage to get to Shanghai where they will start a new life. Mi Lan confesses to Shen and we don’t get to know his response but safe to say, he also likes her. The End
Not the nonsensical nonsense the drama showed πŸ™„

Anywho, this has been such an emotional rollercoaster and yet riveting story. It hooked me in from the get go but I need to give the main leads their flowers. Vengo Gao as a vampire was such a treat (man is fiiiine πŸ₯°)..I couldn’t stop looking at him without drooling and whoever designed his costumes need a raise ASAP. Also, I love how this role really suits him and this is my first time to actually love his acting. The one that blew me away is Nana. Like she carried Mi Lan’s character with finesse and for a sec, I swear I thought she was actually blind. And that’s how convincing she was. On paper, Nana and Vengo Gao together wouldn’t make sense but once they were on screen, the chemistry was so beautiful to see. I really loved their scenes and will definitely rewatch them. There was always this calmness to Shen and Mi Lan’s chats and no doubt they brought eachother peace. I’m so grateful for the drama for not making it too ambiguous on what kind of relationship they have (like in the novel) as you can totally see they love and care for eachother deeply.
As for everyone else, I think they did a good job. The actor who plays Li started off cartoonish but eventually grew on me. And I never cared for the main Villain so well…
Alas, I will surely add this to my Rewatch list.
