  1. So this episode 8 ‘finale’ of part II ends on a tense climax, but so many questions are still hanging in the air, especially the big one, who ordered that guy to kill NamMu and put these events into play? Hmmm. But seeing Queen Woo boldly defy all odds and bend these deadly circumstances to her will has been a most impressive ride! I kinda hope there’s a S2 to continue, since its a dramatization of real events. This one calls for a proper ending. Still, for me I’m all about the story being told, and given the volatile setting of the plotline I’ve been satisfied with the artistic choices the director made in showcasing the events. The dialogue however was not as engaging to me (sometimes felt long winded and confusing), but the sequencing style of jumping from present to past, and the steady continuous reveals still kept the surprises coming and kept me interested.

I’d say my favorite scenes were the ones between NamMu and Woo, their flashbacks revealing how close they actually became despite it all. That was a sweet touch to all the chaos. I was impressed that he even told her to watch PaSo through his trusted guard from since long before. So she was always aware of him possibly turning on her, damn. But I feel the fondness they shared since duking out ideas as kids have grown some trust between them not to turn their backs on each other so easily. Perhaps PaSo may give up his revenge to follow Woo’s cause to stabilize the country where the innocents are no longer the pawns and victims of power struggles, like his grandfather was. Hopefully the ending will be visualized in another season for completeness… but if not, I enjoyed it just the same. All actors did an excellent job on this one, well done! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’

  2. I really enjoyed this drama. I hope we get a season 2, but I’m satisfied. The story is absolutely great. A warrior queen, wise and brave. A story of love and fidelity.
Good script, great actors. The use of light and silence was extraordinary.
    10/10

  3. Damn …the ending cannot be the ending …and to our satisfaction, we need a SEASON 2 ๐Ÿ˜”. Queen Woo captivated this second part of the drama, woman is not only full of grit and determination but shes SMART — playing her chess pieces strategically and like a REAL QUEEN. I dont agree how people said shes not suited to play the role. Her non chalant, masculine, indifferent, no nonsense & alfa ways/manners is what is keeping us to our seats. She embodies RESILIENCE & TOUGHNESS abt her, a correct depiction of what everyone doesnt want her to be. And I cannot envision another actress who can portray this (i.e., theyll be too pretty or feminine for part). I enjoyed the twists & turns and the unfolding of where she steps forth to fight to protect the Kingdom ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ Soooo admirable. As I watch Prince 5th, I cannot help but wish it was him that she ended up with or marry because watching Prince 4th shake and fearful from the Queens actions, makes me wonder. But I think the best part abt him is he is no doubt INFATUATED by her Lolll, so can imagine he’ll be the type to go along with whatever she asks for. As a woman, loved the way Queen is shown, she doesnt have to be drop dead gorgeous, or absolutely be emotional or expressive to lead or get where she wants to be. Queen Woo has 1000% grit and her AURA unmatched and its no wonder her husband (late King) chose her ๐Ÿ”ฅ. Drama for me 8.5/10 MUST WATCH โค Waiting eagerly for SEASON 2 ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

  4. i was on the edge of my seat for 53 minutes not knowing that the episode was already over, fully expecting a full orchestration of the war. that final speech about fighting for a future where no one is chain-bound to a chess game was perfect, and in a chess game—the queen can make the most and farthest moves. i really wanted to know the queen’s and eul paso’s strategy for cornering their enemies, as well as the 5th prince’s strategy for defeating the mounted warriors. i’m going to wishfully assume there’s a season 2, although i do wonder how they’ll continue the story after the 4th prince gets officially coronated (according to the history books).

i think jongseo was the perfect cast for queen woo. she showed how she never once faltered in her beliefs and is emotionally strong to endure constantly being on the brink of death. i had already liked watching historical kdramas but this show cemented my enjoyment for this genre. cheers to the team who brought this show to life ๐Ÿ™Œ all hail queen woo!!! ๐Ÿ‘‘

  5. I usually shy away from historical dramas because I feel overwhelmed by the extensive knowledge I lack about them. My natural curiosity drives me to want to learn everything, which can be quite draining. Moreover, I often find these dramas to be rather slow, so I tend to avoid them unless they include a comedic element.

At first, I was reluctant to dive into this series, but Iโ€™m so glad I did! It was absolutely enthralling. Knowing that itโ€™s based on a true story with a woman at its heart makes me proud as a female viewer.

The production quality of this drama was exceptional; I was completely absorbed and didnโ€™t pause for a moment while binge-watching the episodes.

The queen’s character is portrayed brilliantly; she showcases the ability to make swift decisions and foresee others’ actions. This character exemplifies intelligence, agility, and strength, yet her gender presents challenges to her aspirations. Thereโ€™s no justifiable reason for her limitations compared to men, but societal expectations dictate that she should not chase after what has never been achieved by women before.

I must applaud Jong Soo’s performance; I canโ€™t envision anyone else embodying the role as she did. The entire cast delivered impressive performances.

The thrilling chase scenes between the queen and the white tigers were absolutely exhilarating, keeping me on the edge of my seat the entire time.

I doubt there will be a sequel to this story, as it wraps up with Bal Gi’s downfall and subsequent suicide due to treason, paving the way for the fourth prince’s rise to power.

This drama focuses on Queen Woo, so I believe this marks the definitive end.

  6. Second half was really goodโ€ฆ. Only thing that bothered me was everyoneโ€™s costume. They all dressed like a bad weather. Really awful. Queenโ€™s hairstyle n accessories were so hideous. Stylist shouldโ€™ve watched some cdramas n implemented something better

  7. “I did not do anything because I was told a woman could not and should not do anything. Now I will show you what I can do”…….

“You will fear the enemy’s weapons. But we have something they do not. The reason to fight. I do not want you or your descendants to live like chess pieces controlled by others. I will defend the palace and build new Goguryeo. And then I’ll end this war. Brothers, will you fight with me…….

    Queen Woo ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿพ

In the eyes of her father who doubted and underestimated her, in the eyes of the youngest prince who thought in the beginning Queen Woo should have avoided the war, in the eyes of the late King’s general who felt Queen Woo dressed to fight in the war is too risky for her and also, in the eye of the clans that pledge loyalty to Goguryeo that joined in with their armies and amongst the eyes of the palace armies and brave citizens lending their strengths to fight to defend the palace and their families, Queen Woo’s speech won their hearts and boosted their courage in her to lead them to victory.

    Salute to Queen Woo๐Ÿ’œ ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ

  8. I questioned silently why Eul Pa So’s bodyguard intentionally seized shooting the last pigeon message carried from the first episode but claimed he missed one when he reported back to Eul Pa So, turns out both he and the Secretary are the spies all along but his loyalty to the late King unto Queen Woo is admirable…

  9. I feel like I would have loved this series more if SJJ wasnt the female lead. Gosh, I think I will be a proud hater of her for life!

  10. OMGGGGG!!! This is crazy. Ahhhhhggggrr. I LOVE THE QUEEN. She is on fire. You princes are all going to burn on ground.
    Go Go Go QUEEN WO.

  11. I must say the second half was sooo much better than the first. I love dramas with strong headed female leads, and I am glad this drama gave us that.

So are we to think of her scene with the mended sword as the ending? Because this is a real story, the outcome of the war has been written in the history books and I think they did not delve deeper into the specifics of the war for the very same reason. Still a final scene would have been nice to watch.
