Let Free the Curse of Taekwondo (2024) Episode 1
This is soo good. Loving every minute ❤️❤️ Why am I waiting for the other shoe to drop. I don’t think I will be able to handle it when things go wrong 😫. Things are already bad with the father and the bullies. But everything can spiral out of control quickly. I hope their love for each other remains as beautiful to the end 🙏
Master piece
Ju Yeong and Do Ho are so awkward with each other but it’s so cute and real cause I know I would be just as awkward in a relationship 😭 I love them together so much a though. I hate the dad with my life cause it’s bad enough that you hit your own kid but other kids too??? Like it’s still child abuse no matter who’s child it is. The ex friend I already know is gonna be a problem cause he probably knew that Do Ho liked him and when he found that out he stopped being friends with him and started bullying him but he knows that he likes Do Ho and just doesn’t want to admit it. That’s just what I think though
This is SO GOOD!
I can already tell this will be a MASTERPIECE!!!!
I am looking forward to the next episode.
I could understand the hierarchy between the old and younger generations culture in the south-east Asian countries. The discipline could be deemed acceptable from a martial art master. There’s a saying : a day as a teacher, a lifetime as a father. However, I could not accept master Lee as a father. He wants his son to be a role model son within his community, but what about him being a role model to his own son. He dumped his unfinished meal onto Do Ho washed dishes. He smoked in the dojo while Do Ho and Ju Young spar. He had no table manner. He’s an abusive drunkard. Ugh! He’s another evil antagonist adding to my hate list.
I like the two boys from different worlds but are very much alike who desire to be free, free of restrictions, disciplines, prejudices, and from the toxic environment they long to escape.
That commonality brings them close to understanding each other. Making them want to rely and to depend on each other.
It’s only two episodes, but their story unfolds beautifully. Seeing how Do Ho lives daily and sympathizing with his new friend’s struggle, Ju Young grows to respect Do Ho.
What’s so endearing for me in this episode is Ju Young looked up on the internet and experimented on making snow for Do Ho. The happiness that brought to Do Ho is so precious. And yes, that also brought a smile onto Do Ho’s face.
There’s trouble ahead for these two. I have a feeling it could be coming from a jealous friend who has been bullying Do Do.
I hope there’ll be a happy ending. I just fear that they may have to experience cruelty before they achieve their freedom. And plz no brutality as seen in Happy of the End.
Our boys Do Hoe and Ju Yeong are really just two precious beans who are just trying to find an appropriate place to have their first “official” kiss together in that cramped van 😂🥹 I also really enjoyed all of the cute and sweet little moments and interactions that were happening between Do Hoe and Ju Yeong. Which, I will say my favorite moment was when Ju Yeong was trying to get Do Hoe to feel his leg/thigh muscles while they were in the bathroom, and Do Hoe was getting so flustered by it too 😂
For Do Hoe’s dad…..sir those went way beyond just a little red marks from being hit by a wooden stick, that was straight up assault if a deep wound is left behind. The rage I felt when it showed that Ju Yeong did in fact get “punished” instead when he was also attending to his wounds when Do Hoe was putting ointment on his own wounds that he received when he was attacked by those other guys.
Also, I see you Mr. Hyeon Ho having that little gay awakening during that flashback that showed that little group that Hyeon Ho is apart of playing the frogger game that allowed Hyeon Ho and Do Hoe to be almost nose to nose. Which, ended only because Hyeon Ho became flustered by seeing our precious Do Hoe looking adorable as he was enjoying playing around so freely.
SPOILER… What a marvelous 2nd ep. This series is quality in every way❤️ This feels like a masterpiece…
Even tho I know there’s a time jump at some point, this is sure progressing faster than I imagined. Maybe this means the writers will focus more on their adult lives and adult relationship?? Either way, everything about this ep was raw and perfect. From the overall concern, the confession, it was absolutely adorable how Ju Yeong went outside, freezing his butt off to talk to his mom as to not bother Do Hoe and be considerate but somehow was still so loud Do Hoe could hear him, lol. 😂 Ju Yeong cooked for himself. Standing up for Do Hoe, the dad and those bullies💪
The anger of not feeling challenged at the sport you love, wanting the person you love to respect you and your fighting skills enough to actually fight and challenge you – not understanding that your love interest can see when you are fighting injured or worse bc they were beaten bc of you – hating to feel the guilt of being responsible for that too – also concerned and not wanting to hurt you in any way🥺 Do Hoe upset that he was caring for this stranger that came into his life and had turned it upside down. Ju Yeong felt like he understood, Do Hoe when he got angry bc he was also feeling those frustrations. The enigmas of that winter must have indeed been new, puzzling territory💗 Starting with watching in confusion, someone welcome your ice-cream saliva again and again🤭
I was feeling their emotions bursting through the screen💥 Ju Yeong so boldly kissed Do Hoe upon understanding that his crush cared about him too. I expected some hesitation from Do Hoe when Ju Yeong confessed his love, so directly through their paper-thin walls. I was so scared when I heard the dad come in bc I thought he had overheard the confession. Thank goodness that didn’t happen, but in such a small town I’m worried it’s just a matter of time when dad will find out and he won’t accept their relationship I’m sure😔…
I was already gushing from the moment JY made snow for Do Hoe🫠 That’s love!🥰 Standing up to the abuser of your crush and your coach. That’s love!🥰 Standing up to the bullies of your crush. That’s love!🥰 Putting your feelings out there knowing there was a big risk. That’s love!🥰
Then the desire and struggle to have your first kiss, In public? At the underpass? Pavilion? Looking so sus. Eventually kissing in the freezing van where it felt instantly “warm” the sec that arm went around the neck😅 Not knowing how to kiss and which way to turn their heads. I got such baby flutters watching that innocent and wholesome scene❤️ Young love at its purest and finest🥰
I’m secretly hoping Ju Yeong and Do Hoe move in together and become roommates now, far away from Do Hoe’s father🙏🙏🙏
P.S. Hilarious!😂🤣
They are so awkward 😭😭🙏🏻
THAT’S SOOOOO CUTE
I don-t know about you guys, but for me this already feels like a new masterpiece lol
They surely grabbed my attention. Looks good so far. Good acting and good overall production quality. If the storytelling keeps up after the time jump, this might well become one of the true gems of the year.
I wonder if that underpass question was a nod to ‘To My Star 2’, or just a coincidence?
Spoilers
I feel like I’ve been hit by a train , my emotions are going haywire 😨 I was laughing, crying, or enraged every other scene
Ju Yeong’s bruises were shown and my stomach fell, I just started crying because he was smiling and laughing the whole time enduring the pain and was planning to say anything. Im really curious and want a deeper exploration of his family life and the role Taekwondo has on it. Is the mistreatment and poor conditions worth it?
How could you beat up a kid like that much more someone else’s child like that wtf 🤬 And most the kids in that neighborhood has been beat by him before and nothing can be done about it?! I had to pause and sit in silence.
I can’t imagine what Do Hoe experienced for years living with him alone after his mom left, as well as the violent bullying from his classmates. Which I peeped the gay panic (14:38)
By the end I was LMAO because of their awkwardness but determination to have a proper kiss I think they’ll stay warm in the cold😂 They are so pure and my heart aches for them 🥺
I think this is just the beginning of injuries Ju Yeong will attain and with Savior complex he’s gonna accumulate more until they can’t be hidden anymore or become detrimental to his health. His silence, and the lying about his injuries on top of to Do Hoe’s guilt because of his father will take a toll on their newly budding romance.
I absolutely LOVE this show, after 2 episodes. The story, the acting, the chemistry, all so excellent. These actors must play teenagers and later, 31 year old men.
I have thoughts about this show and made possible guesses, so, I am going to put that here as a spoiler.
I am guessing that this has something to do with the two girls after the football match outside, who gave Do Hoe a deathstare, maybe they have seen something between him and Hyeon Ho, that made them fall apart and become enemies instead of the friends they used to be. Allthough Hyeon Ho is observing Do Hoe.
The way that Do Hoe is filmed, using his chapstick often and also taking care of his face with a moisuriser, I think that is a clue that he is maybe gay, cause teenagers from 16 years ago, I don’t think they did that often. So, this is a deliberate clue.
Lee Do Hoe did not want to get close too Sin Ju Yeong, I guess that he did not want to have feelings for him, also being emotionally to absorbed by his troubles and wanting to get away from home. Remember also how he from the start, let Yu Yeong win the first taekwondo sparring match, and directly after that, warned him that he could better return to Seoul. Cause Do Hoe did not want Ju Yeong to be in this hostile environment.
At first, Do Hoe must have thought that Yu Yeong was straight, he heard through his wall the phonecall to someone and that that person told Yu Yeong that the current boyfriend would not allow to talk with Yu Yeong. And we heard the sound of a female in porn. But, for all we know, that could have been a girl or a guy talking at the phone, and unwilling to speak to Yu Yeong, because of his or hers boyfriend.
What also is possible, is that Yu Yeoung has been send away from Seoul to the provence, because he had a boyfriend back in Seoul, when his mother is a minister of a protestant church. Another possible clue for that, is that on Yu Yeoungs social media account, not a single person from his former school and neighbourhood reacted on his photo together with Do Hoe. As if he is a persona no grata.
But the ice was melted between them, you saw Lee Do Hoe smiling, not wanting to touch Sin Ju Yeong in the bathroom. And all the other sweet stuff that Yu Yeong did, like going to school with a umbrella, making the fake snow, eating the icecream from Do Hoe’s spoon, the indirect kiss is that. Which Do Hoe himself evaded every time.
There was something going on. Yu Yeoung knew it, after Do Hoe found out that he had wounds on his body, why Do Hoe was often angry. Because Do Hoe liked Yu Yeoung and did not want him to get hurt. Tha was why Yu Yeong sudden kissed Do Hoe in the bedroom, that ignited the sparks. And minutes later, the confession from Yu Yeoung through the wall, that he liked Do Hoe and cared for him. That was the moment that Do Hoe needed to know that Yu Yeong was more than a friend, allthough he was somewhat shy outside in the cold, he knew that kissing was on the table!
